YOUR PURCHASE SUPPORTS THE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
100% of all sales of apprentice pieces go to the apprenticeship program endowment, to assist with the apprentices’ salary, housing, food, and healthcare during their research and apprenticeship at the Saint John’s Pottery.
Once an apprentice has accomplished their discipline, the apprentice seal (pictured) is given to them. The seal is of the hand gesture of the Christ Child that is part of the Mabon Madonna sculpture at the Saint John’s Abbey church. In the Benedictine Christian tradition, this gesture represents Peace on Earth. In the Buddha of Healing, this hand gesture means Fear Not. Richard Bresnahan chose this hand gesture for the apprentices because they have nothing to fear; they fear not. And by the creation of their work in an Eco-mutual way they help to bring peace on earth.
